5 Essential Steps to Achieving

Your Business Goals

If you hang around with either one of us for a while, you’ll quickly learn that we absolutely love setting goals! Setting goals is a huge part of our businesses and what we emphasize a lot with our clients.

However, like many of the entrepreneurs we work with, sometimes we spend so much time setting goals that we don’t spend nearly as much time trying to achieve them. Whoops!

We truly believe you should have goals. But, the most important thing when it comes to your goals is the ACTION you take.

Because a goal without a plan is just a wish, right?

Here are the 3 actions we take when it comes to setting our business goals, whether it’s for the year, the quarter, the month, the week, or even just the day!

Step 1: Define Your Priorities

Before you can start figuring out your goals for the year, you need to figure out the things that are the most important you.

But, here’s the deal… you can’t choose more the 3 priorities.

It’s not that there aren’t other things that are important – they just might not be AS important.

So, first, let’s look at this from a macro perspective. When it comes to your life in general, what are the 3 things that are the most important thing to you? This could be things like your business, your family, your health, your faith, your finances, etc.

Step 2: Define A Goal For Each Priority

Now that we’ve figured out the most important things to us, it’s time to pick ONE GOAL to focus on for each of those priorities.

Again, it’s not because there aren’t other things that aren’t important with your business or your family, but if you want to achieve your goals, focusing on ONE THING is key.

For example, our goal for our Magnify membership is to add 10 new members every single month. Maybe one of your priorities is your family, so your goal might be to have dinner together as a family 5 or 6 nights a week.

Step 3: Set Action Steps

As we said earlier, the real magic in achieving your goals is taking action.

So, let’s go back to our goal of adding 10 new members to Magnify every single month. The first question we asked ourselves was, ” How will we do that?” So, we picked 3 action steps that would help us get closer to that goal:

  1. Launch at least once per quarter
  2. Create an automated email funnel
  3. Educate and give lots of value on social media and to our email list consistently

This step is by far the most important one because now you can see we have an action plan for how we can achieve that goal.

Step 4: Review Your Goals

How often do you set goals and maybe even get as far as action steps, but then totally forget about them until this time next year?! #guilty

We highly recommend writing down your priorities, your goals, and the action items and put them somewhere where you can see them every single day. We also highly recommend taking time each week to review your goals and see what progress you’ve made.

Because here’s the deal… you’re not going to achieve them right away (and if you do, it’s time to push yourself a little farther, friend!). That can be really discouraging, especially if you’ve been working consistently toward them, day after day, month after month.

But, by spending time reviewing those goals regularly, you can actually see the progress you’ve made and adjust your goals when you need to!

Step 5: Don’t Quit

Last, but certainly not least, you can’t achieve your goals if you quit. It’s not going to be easy and it might take you longer than you want or expected. So, when it gets hard (because it will), remind yourself to KEEP GOING!

By following these steps and pushing yourself to keep going when it gets hard, you’ll find yourself making progress toward your goals, turning your dreams into reality. So, set those big goals for your business for the new year! You’ve got this!
