Trending Audio for Reels



Do you struggle to come up with ideas for Reels?

We hear it from our Content Made Easy members all the time – they want to post Reels, but they don’t always have ideas or don’t know where to find good audio clips to use.

Why is the audio you use so important?
Because trending audio can get MORE EYES on your page! And more eyes means more likes + follows.

And the even better news? Finding trending audio is easier than you think!

Here are 3 ways to find trending audio that can lead to YOUR next viral Reel (plus, a few bonus tips we decided to throw in as well)…


One of the easiest ways to find trending audio for Reels is simply by going to create a Reels and tapping on the music note symbol. Instagram already has ALL the latest trending audio for you right in there for when you go to create a Reel!

No need to really search any farther. Pick the one that you want, and start using it! This is especially helpful for Reels in which you are NOT lip syncing or dancing. We love using this feature for doing “behind the scenes” Reels or even when we’re simply just talking to the camera. (You can even turn down the background audio so it doesn’t drown out your voice.)


I like to call this “Reels research.” It makes me feel a little better about scrolling!

As you scroll through your Reels, you’ll start seeing the same trends or audio being used over and over. That is a great signal that it is trending!

Save that audio to use later – and I even like to scroll through that specific audio to see how other people have used it!


Hashtags are like little magic keys that unlock doors to a wider audience on social media.

When you use hashtags strategically, you’re essentially putting your posts in front of people who are actively searching for content like yours. It’s like joining a conversation that’s already happening and saying, “Hey, I’ve got something valuable to add!”

Hashtags help increase the discoverability of your posts, attract new followers, and drive engagement.

Make sure your hashtags are relevant to not just your post, but your niche as well. And be sure to use a variety of hashtags from low competition to high competition so you’re more likely to show up on the “search” page.


Even if you don’t use TikTok for your business, sometimes it’s a great way to jump on some early trends before they hit Instagram. I don’t really use TikTok, but I’ll see trends 1 to 2 weeks before my husband starts sending them to me!

Unfortunately, Instagram is still second fiddle to TikTok, so if you’re interested in jumping on the trends early, TikTok is the way to go!

One thing we also want to make sure we address is that “allegedly” Instagram is giving priority to original audio versus trending audio. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still do trends! Trends are still an excellent way to get more eyes on your content, but original audio is THE WAY to show your expertise in your niche!
